Facilities
Our centre has a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces to support learning in nature. We offer safe and comfortable areas for hands-on activities. Overnight stays in National Parks facilities are available.
Our local environment and learning spaces
Our centre is based in Bournda National Park with easy access to bushland, temperate rainforest, Bournda Lagoon, Wallagoot Lake, and we are close to Bournda Island.
These natural spaces are part of our everyday learning. Students can explore:
- walking tracks and bush trails
- habitats for native plants and animals
- rock pools, the rock platform.
- places with cultural or historical meaning.
We use these outdoor spaces to help students learn about nature and sustainability. We have indoor spaces for learning in all kinds of weather, we offer indoor classrooms for lessons and group work.
Bournda National Park NPWS accommodation sites
We have access to two NPWS sites for accommodation in Bournda NP. The Field Studies Huts (FSH) and the School Bay at Hobart Beach campground. Please see below, our 'Gear List' FSH & 'Gear List School Bay Camping' for the items we provide and what we suggest you bring. Bournda EEC will request a booking for your preferred site with NPWS on your behalf.
